Premier League: Chelsea Vs QPR @ Stamford Bridge
Saturday, November 1, 2014 @ 3:00pm
Chelsea will look to extend their unbeaten Premier league run to ten games when they face QPR at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
A win would see the Blues move nine points ahead of title rivals Manchester City for at least 24 hours.
Jose Mourinho’s men head into the match on the back of a laboured 2-1 win against Shrewsbury.
A second string Chelsea team struggled to break down the League Two outfit, and Mourinho is expecting star striker Diego Costa to return.
The Spaniard has nine league goals in seven games but has been struggling with a hamstring problem for the past two weeks.
In Costa’s absence Didier Drogba has scored three goals in three games and Eden Hazard has continued his good form.
Hazard has delighted the Stamford Bridge faithful with a string of impressive displays, and the Belgian has developed into a genuine match winner this season.
QPR won 2-0 at home against Aston Villa last Monday, it was their first league win since August and saw them move off the bottom of the Table.
Top scorer Charlie Austin scored both goals against Villa and will hope to add to his four strikes against Chelsea.
QPR will be without veteran centre back Rio Ferdinand after a controversial tweet earned him a three match ban and a £25,000 fine.
Manager Harry Redknapp will hope his side can reproduce the performance that saw Rangers beat Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge in January 2013.
Chelsea have scored 24 times this season and will expect to comfortably overcome a QPR team who have conceded 18 times already this term.
