AFC Wimbledon hope to get back to winning ways against Northampton Town

Northampton Town v AFC Wimbledon @ Sixfields Stadium

Saturday, November 01 @15:00

AFC Wimbledon will be looking to return to winning ways on Saturday when they take on Chris Wilder’s Northampton Town at Sixfields Stadium.

The Dons have won only one of their last six league matches, but their recent tough run has seen them encounter the league’s early pace-setters Wycombe and the play-off chasing Plymouth.

Their draw at home to bottom-of-the-table Tranmere last weekend however frustrated Neal Ardley, and a big improvement will be needed if they plan on getting anything from their trip to Sixfields.

If they are to re-ignite their promotion charge against Northampton, much will depend on the performance of strike partnership Adebayo Akinfenwa and Matt Tubbs.

The partnership which started off the season superbly has dropped off the pace slightly in recent weeks. Akinfenwa is returning to one of his former clubs and Ardley will be hopeful that this provides the striker with an added incentive, if he needs one, to produce another match-winning performance.

Northampton, who are 18th in League Two, have lost their last four league matches and they will be hoping to keep their former striker at bay as they attempt to stop their alarming run of form.

The Cobblers will be without a number of key players for the match but should have both Lee Collins and Darren Carter available after they missed last weekend’s trip to Luton.

Ardley will be able to select from a fully-fit squad as The Dons look for their first league win since October 11.
