Liverpool’s fourth Premier League matchday of the 22/23 season finished with the Reds tying a record thanks to a 9-0 win against Bournemouth. It is the joint-biggest win in the league’s history with the Reds rampant on the day.

Manchester United 9-0 Ipswich Town
On March 4, 1995, Manchester United thrashed Ipswich Town 9-0 at Old Trafford. Four different Manchester United goal scorers got on to scoresheet as Andy Cole bagged five of the team’s nine goals. Meanwhile, Mark Hughes scored a brace for the Red Devils.
In the previous two Ipswich Town visits to Old Trafford, the Tractor Boys had drawn both matches. Despite the big win against Ipswich Town, Manchester United did not win the title as Blackburn claimed the trophy at the end of the season.
Southampton 0-9 Leicester City
On October 25, 2019, Southampton suffered the first of two awful 9-0 defeats. This defeat came at the hands of Leicester City, who went into the game third in the Premier League standings while Southampton were in 17th.
The Foxes had one of their strongest seasons under Brendan Rodgers in 2019-20 and this was at the peak of their powers. Leicester City’s Ayoze Perez and Jamie Vardy both scored hat-tricks.
Midfielder Youri Tielemans, left-back Ben Chilwell, and James Maddison all got on the scoresheet as well. Leicester City had 25 shots with 15 on target away to the Saints.
Manchester United 9-0 Southampton
Just 15 months after being thrashed 9-0 by Leicester City, Southampton suffered another humiliating 9-0 defeat, this time at the hands of Man United. Not only was it Southampton’s second 9-0 Premier League era defeat, but it was Manchester United’s second 9-0 win.
The Red Devils had seven different goal scorers on the day as only Anthony Martial scored twice. The eighth goal scorer was Southampton’s Jan Bednarek, who scored an own goal.
Liverpool 9-0 Bournemouth
After picking up two points from nine to start the 2022-23 Premier League season, Liverpool got their campaign properly underway with a 9-0 smashing of newly-promoted Bournemouth.
The Reds were off to the races early on as Luis Diaz scored after just three minutes. By halftime, Liverpool were up 5-0. Diaz and Roberto Firmino both bagged two goals apiece by the end of the 90 minutes.
Firmino received the man of the match honours thanks to two goals and three assists. The Brazilian was brilliant on the day fuelling Liverpool to the win.
