After a hectic January transfer window it is finally deadline day, meaning that London’s Premier League sides will likely have a busy day ahead.
Clubs often scramble to bring in new players on January 31, but stars leaving is just as important. Below are some of the most likely outgoings from London’s biggest sides.
Arsenal
Out: Sambi Lokonga
With Jorginho coming in, Lokonga’s place in the Arsenal squad is uncertain. Crystal Palace are currently targeting the 23-year-old on loan to help fix Patrick Vieira’s struggling midfield alongside possible new signing Naouirou Ahamada. A short tenure with the Arsenal icon could be enough to change the out-of-form Lokonga’s fortunes.
Chelsea
Out: Jorginho
Arsenal’s midfield has been the core of their team this season with immense showings from Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka. However, it is also Arsenal’s biggest weakness in depth, with only an out-of-form Sambi Lakonga to cover the core midfield positions.
Chelsea are likely to sign Enzo Fernandez for an already inflated squad, which makes it look increasingly likely for Arsenal to take the experienced Jorginho out of their hands as a capable squad player. According to reporter Fabrizio Romano, this deal has already been agreed for a £12m fee.
Tottenham Hotspur
Out: Matt Doherty
A surprise loan move could be imminent for Matt Doherty as Atletico Madrid look to take the Irish international for the remainder of the season. Doherty has struggled to cement his place ahead of Emerson Royal, and with Atletico struggling in the absence of Trippier this may be the best move for both parties.
West Ham
Out: Michail Antonio
Antonio has struggled alongside his team this season as the Irons have slumped into a relegation battle. With only four goal involvements in the league this season and the recent arrival of Danny Ings, time may be up for the 32 year old. Fellow strugglers, Everton and Wolves are interested, and Crystal Palace may also make a move with the possible exit of Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Crystal Palace
Out: Jean-Phillippe Mateta
With Galatasaray interested, it is looking increasingly likely for Mateta to leave Vieira’s Eagles. The former Mainz striker has only one premier league goal to his name this season and with his struggle to break into the Crystal Palace line up ahead of Eduoard, it could be time for a move of up to €12 million, just a year after Palace signed him permanently.
Fulham
Out: Tosin Adarabioyo
Adarabioyo has had interest from many European clubs including Monaco, according to Fabrizio Romano. With Fulham looking for a possible European push, the 25 year old may be a huge part of Fulham’s future and whilst European clubs are interested, there isn’t long left to make a move. For now it’s likely that Fulham will have no outgoings, but Adarabioyo looks like the most possible exit.
Brentford
Out: David Raya
Brentford’s number one has been a vital part of their incredible rise in the last 3 years since signing from Blackburn. Despite the Bees having another fantastic season, not all is well for Thomas Frank’s side. David Raya’s contract is due to expire next year and he turned down a new deal last week. With his immense form, it could be too risky for Brentford to let him go, however this may be their last chance to get a realistic pay out for a player of his quality. With many big clubs interested including Chelsea and Manchester United, a deal could be likely.
