Streatham Redskins forward Adam Wood believes his side are capable of winning the league title this season after their impressive start to the campaign.
Redskins are second in the National Hockey League South One after twelve games and just two points behind defending champions Chelmsford Chieftains.
Confidence is running high in the side and Wood feels this might just be Streatham’s season.
“We definitely have the team that can win the league,” said Wood.
“I think that is a shared feeling throughout the changing room amongst the coaching, management and the players.
“Obviously there is still a long way to go but as long as we carry on this form I don’t see any reason we can’t challenge for the league this season.”
Redskins have only dropped points in three games so far this season and are playing well, Wood explained a lot of this is down to the great atmosphere within the team.
“I just feel like everyone is having a really good time so far,” he said.
“The feelings are pretty high in the changing room and everyone is always having a good laugh.
“But when it comes to playing games it’s down to business and we are getting the results to go with the good performances.”
And Wood expects much of the same in their double header this weekend when they face Cardiff Devils at home and travel to Oxford City Stars.
He said: “We are pretty confident. Both teams are obviously a lot further down the league table than ourselves but we can’t take them for granted.
“Both teams can catch us by surprise and score quick goals and we experienced that a few weeks back against Oxford.
“But I think if we can keep up the way we are playing then we shouldn’t have too much trouble.”
