Met Police’s promotion hopes lie in a tense final Saturday of football that sees them in a tight battle to to make the Ryman Premier play-offs.
The Blues face already relegated AFC Hornchurch at Imber Court in their final game of the season knowing a win will be enough so long Dulwich Hamlet or Enfield Town slip up in their final games.
A draw could also do if Enfield fail to beat 22nd-placed Witham Town and Grays Athletic don’t beat Kingstonian.
To increase the atmosphere, the club have made the game `pay what you want` at the turnstiles for entry to the ground and there will be cheap beer on offer.
Tomorrow’s action comes at the end of a busy week in the Ryman leagues that saw Tooting & Mitcham manager Craig Tanner sacked.
The south west London club gave Tanner and assistant manager Adam Moriarty their notice less than two years after they took over.
The pair will remain in position until the end of the season, giving them a chance to claim the club’s first piece of silverware in seven years when they face Hendon next Thursday in the London Senior Cup final.
A statement from the club said: “The club feels a change is required in order to attain its ambition of promotion from Ryman South.”
Elsewhere in south-west London, Sutton United play 19th place Maidenhead United knowing they cannot finish higher than 13th in the Conference South.
Hampton & Richmond, in 15th-place in the Ryman Premier, take on Peacehaven & Telscombe in a match that matters little for The Beavers, but is of huge importance for The Magpies who could yet avoid relegation.
In Division One South, 12th place Corinthian Casuals take on 21st place Ramsgate away in a match that could see their hosts relegated if they do not win.
At the same time, 16th place Walton Casuals fight third-place Faversham Town in a showdown that may see Casuals capitulate for a second week running following last week’s 4-0 loss at home to Folkestone Invicta.
Walton & Hersham in 17th face 20th place Hastings and 19th-place Carshalton Athletic are looking to finish their season in style and end a four game losing streak in a tough game against seventh-place Three Bridges.
And finally in The Cherry Red Records Combined Counties Football League, 14th place Raynes Park Vale take on 16th place Knaphill, offering a scintillating finale to a mixed season.
