Man City vs Chelsea @ The Etihad
September 21 – 16.00 BST
Chelsea will be looking to continue their 100% start to their Premier League campaign this coming weekend away at Man City.
With 15 goals in 4 games, Chelsea have set off like a freight train this season and it will be a tough ask for the reigning champions to stymie the Blues’ momentum.
Jose Mourinho thrives off the toughest of challenges, and proved himself adept at navigating the big games last season, dropping just two points to their top four neighbours.
Mourinho’s men put on a textbook display of counterattacking football in last year’s corresponding fixture as Branislav Ivanovic scored a solitary goal to condemn City to their only league home defeat of the campaign.
Diego Costa leads Cesc Fabregas in their personal goals/assists battle with his seven goals to Fabregas’ six assists, and stopping the Spanish duo in their tracks will be the biggest challenge Vincent Kompany and co have faced so far.
Both Chelsea and City are looking to get back to winning ways after stumbling against Schalke and Bayern Munich respectively in their midweek Champions League fixtures.
City are particularly desperate to make amends in front of their fans, having picked up just one point in their last two league matches.
Neither Chelsea nor City have proven themselves wholly competent in defence so far this season having conceded six and four goals in their opening four fixtures.
But when push comes to shove, it will take a brave man to bet against Mourinho this Sunday.
