Bracken delighted as Corinthian-Casuals re-ignite play-off push with Faversham Town victory

Corinthian-Casuals 3-1 Faversham Town

Corinthian-Casuals manager James Bracken praised his side’s performance following their victory over Faversham Town at King George’s Field on Saturday.

Josh Uzun was a first-half scorer and provider after he converted a penalty before setting up Shaun Okojie from a corner who headed home to put the Casuals in control of the game.

Four minutes after the break right back Warren Morgan ran the length of the field before hitting an effort past Will Godmon, and although Renford Tenyue did get a consolation goal, it was not enough for the Lilywhites.

“I thought it went well. It’s a good win against a good team in good form,” said Bracken, whose side were without a win in four games going into the match.

“One or two people thought we had come off it and we were going to slip, but we are not going to slip, we are as strong as we have been.

“Now we will get our heads down and get ourselves back in the play-offs, that is the plan.”

And Bracken believes the defeats, the most recent of which saw them exit the Surrey Senior Cup 3-1 to Sutton United on Wednesday, were an indication of the quality of opposition rather than a reflection of his side’s performances.

He said: “We haven’t been struggling we just have had a couple of defeats and a lot of cup games, and some of the games we have lost have been against teams in higher divisions.

“So yes they are losses but when you look at the teams we are playing against, how they are doing in their leagues, and on the budgets they are on, then we are not expected to get results.

“At the same time we look to win every game and now we look to our league and hopefully can win some games.”

The win moved Casuals back up to 10th, three points off the play-offs, and Bracken doesn’t expect changes to his playing personnel.

He said: “Nobody is going as far as I am aware, everyone is happy and we are in and around where we want to be.

“Everyone gets on, we have a good group of players that are a similar age and they are enjoying it and I am enjoying managing them.

“Maybe we can get one or two in but we will have to wait and see about that.”
