Jos Butler has the highest average of England’s top order batsmen.
England’s top order batsmen are Jos Butler, Phil Salt, Will Jacks and Jonny Bairstow.
Butler is currently England’s T20 captain and opened in the IPL for Rajasthan Royals (RR) and got them to the semifinals. In the latest IPL season Butler obtained 359 runs.
Recently Salt broke through into England’s T20 squad – his first start was against West Indies on January 26, 2022. Salt has recently played in the 2024 IPL season for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Salt opened for KKR 12 times this season and played a part in KKR winning the 2024 IPL season.
Jacks is another player who recently broke into England’s T20 squad, making his debut on September 23, 2023. Jacks played number three for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the 2024 IPL season and got himself eight appearances achieving a total of 230 runs.
Bairstow has been frequently chosen for England’s T20 squads throughout his England career. Bairstow has recently opened for the Kings XI Punjab in the latest IPL season as he managed to get a total of 298 runs with 11 matches played.

Data shows that Butler has achieved an average of 34.95 in the T20 format, Salt has averaged 26.75, Jacks has averaged 29.71, and Bairstow has averaged 30.60.
