Royal Vauxhall Tavern celebrating after scooping Time Out gong

The owners of Royal Vauxhall Tavern revealed their delight after being named the most loved LGBTQ+ hangout in Time Out’s Love London Awards.

Timeout introduced these awards in 2014 to highlight eclectic businesses within London and their popularity with locals.

Customers vote for their favourite against a number of categories with the winners determined solely by public vote.

Catia Ciarico, events, programming and venue hire manager, said: “We were really chuffed, really happy that our customers like us that much, that they value the place as much as they do to vote in the numbers they did for us.

“It has a great deal of meaning for us because it means we are getting it right for them, that they enjoy coming here and it means something important to them.”

The Royal Vauxhall Tavern prides itself on the eclectic crowd it attracts with frequent events including the ever-popular Drag Idol.

James Manning, city life editor of Timeout, said: “It’s something that they can really shout about.

“It’s hard to stand out now because everyone has got so much information at their fingertips, it can be hard to tell the difference between this pub that says it’s great and this pub that says it’s great but having this opportunity where loads and loads of Londoners can vote really cuts through that.

“It provides us with an alternative view.”
