Football fans warned to not get caught up in ticket fraud

Many people, including football fans, are being urged to be on guard against fraud around ticket sales ahead of the big summer sporting events.

Action Fraud are spearheading this campaign to prevent people from losing their money to fraudsters, with £6.7m lost last year.

With England through to the Euro 2024 final on Sunday in Berlin, many supporters would be looking to book last-minute tickets to watch the Three Lions in action on Sunday.

With the tickets to the final in popular demand, both Action Fraud and the football governing body UEFA have warned people not purchase tickets on the secondary market and to purchase tickets from official sellers and this is something the Head of Action Pauline Smith has reiterated.

Smith said: “We all want to enjoy ticketed events this summer, but that doesn’t stop fraudsters from taking the fun out things we look forward to doing.

“Too many people are losing out to fraudulent activity or genuine looking phishing messages.

“Make sure you don’t get ticked off – recognise the signs of ticket fraud before getting caught out. Remember to be wary of unsolicited messages offering deals too good to be true.”

England supporters looking to get last-minute tickets for the Euros final are being urged to get tickets via UEFA.com.
