Oliver Glasner has had to overcome several challenges since being appointed Crystal Palace manager, including losing Michael Olise to Bayern Munich.
However, the Palace hierarchy reinvested a chunk of the proceeds back into the squad and numerous players arrived at Selhurst Park last summer.
Most of the cash went into bolstering their forward line, with Palace forking out £30 million to sign striker Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal.
However, the 25-year-old has only bagged two goals in 22 games across all competitions and has yet to open his goal scoring account in the Premier League.
Ismaila Sarr, who cost the Eagles £12.5m from Olympique Marseille, has fared a little better. He has tallied four goals and three assists in 31 appearances across all competitions.
With Daichi Kamada, Maxence Lacroix and Trevoh Chalobah also coming in last summer, Palace built a decent enough squad for Glasner, but they have struggled to adapt to Olise’s departure.
The first half of the season revealed some of the holes in the Palace squad, especially in attacking areas. They responded by signing Ben Chilwell on loan from Chelsea and Romain Esse from Millwall.
Neither have established themselves in the team, but Chilwell’s experience could come in handy in their quest for a top-half finish this season.
The Eagles also recalled former Chelsea academy ace Malcolm Ebiowei from his loan spell at Oxford United, postponing any major offensive overhaul until the summer.
Palace have several attacking players on their radar ahead of a potentially busy summer transfer window, and there are reports that they have already made their first move.
The Eagles have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Australian striker Rylan Brownlie on a free transfer. His move to Palace could spark a flurry of activity in the Aussie betting industry.
The former Brisbane Roar starlet has plenty of potential and sports bettors in his homeland will be following his progress with interest.
Palace will likely become a popular pick for punters partial to engaging in online betting in Australia, particularly if the Aussie youngster is given the chance to shine.
Bookmakers will offer odds on his individual performances, and markets such as ‘first goalscorer’ and ‘score anytime’ could become even more popular.
Palace have also expressed interest in Olympique Lyonnais starlet Rayan Cherki, who is expected to part ways with the French outfit in the summer.
The 21-year-old is highly coveted amongst European clubs, with Borussia Dortmund particularly keen to lure him to the Bundesliga, but there is also plenty of interest from English clubs.
Cherki has been linked with moves to Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United, but Palace could use their connections with Lyon to facilitate a switch.
The French club is owned by Eagle Football, the multi-club group led by Palace general partner John Textor, so he could smooth the pathway to a deal.
Palace have been interested in Cherki since last summer, but they didn’t submit an official proposal. He will need some convincing to join Palace given the calibre of clubs on his trail.
Cherki has played as a winger or as an attacking midfielder for Lyon this season. He is versatile enough to play anywhere across the frontline or drop deeper into midfield.
The France Under-21 international has been a major force for Lyon this season, returning seven goals and 12 assists in 29 games. He would be a perfect fit in Glasner’s 3-4-2-1 set-up.
Palace are eyeing a move for Botafogo striker Igor Jesus – a move that could also be facilitated through Textor, who has owned the Brazilian club since 2021.
Jesus has also been strongly linked with a move to West Ham United, but Palace will be the favourites if he is made available in the summer.
While Palace will be focused on strengthening the squad next summer, there could also be a couple of outgoings, with Odsonne Edouard set to headline a minor clear-out.
His loan move to Leicester City has been a horror show, so he will be the first name on the chopping block. Palace could also face a fight to keep Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze.
