Last weekend’s defeat to Bath City left a bad taste in Sutton United’s mouths and goalscorer Dale Binns will have spent the week waiting for the chance to put that right.
Sutton host Burgess Hill Town on Saturday for the third qualifying round of the FA Cup.
The performance against Bath was slammed by manager and players alike and this will be seen as the chance to make up for that poor showing.
“It was very disappointing, I wish we had a game on Tuesday to put it right straight away. It’s very frustrating to wait a week,” said Binns after the defeat.
Though Burgess Hill are a couple of levels below Sutton in the non-league pyramid, they lead the Ryman South comfortably and Binns does not expect an easy game.
“Even though they are a couple of levels below, it will be a hard game,” he said.
“They will work hard and we have to match that work rate and hope our quality shines through.”
Tooting & Mitcham meanwhile are away at East Thurrock after needing a replay to get past Bishops Stortford in the second qualifying round.
Kingstonian also needed a replay – and extra time – to get through as they saw Romford off with a 5-3 win. They host Eastborne Borough on Sunday.
In the Ryman Premier, Hampton & Richmond Borough host VCD Athletic trying to build on midweek Cup win after two straight league defeats.
Corinthians Casuals are at home to Whyteleafe for the Ryman South on Friday as they look to bounce back from midweek Cup defeat to Kingstonian.
Carshalton Athletic host Faversham Town on Saturday as they try to end a five game spell without a win and struggling Walton Casuals – yet to win a home league game this season – host Ramsgate.
Colliers Wood United and Raynes Park Vale are both away in the Combined Counties league visiting Cove and Molesey respectively.
