Women’s Rugby World Cup England 2025 pool-stage draw to air live on The One Show

The pool-stage draw for the Women’s Rugby World Cup England 2025 will take place live on The One Show next week, organisers have announced.

BBC Sport’s Gabby Logan and England legend Maggie Alphonsi, along with a One Show presenter, will host the draw live from 7pm on Thursday 17 October 7pm (GMT+1), while it will also be streamed on RugbyPass TV for those living outside the UK from 7.20pm.

The tournament starts at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light on August 22 and finishes with the final at Twickenham on September 27, with 16 teams set to compete, including the hosts.

Ten teams have already qualified, including the likes of New Zealand, France and Canada, with a further six set to stamp their ticket during the final round of WXV matches this weekend.

The teams will be seeded for the draw based on World Rugby rankings, with the top four teams guaranteed to be kept separate and prepopulated into first place in the pools.

The remaining 12 teams will then be split into three bands and drawn based on their rankings.

More than 60,000 tickets have already been sold across the opening match and the bronze match and the final.

Sarah Massey, Managing Director of Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025, said: “This is a significant milestone as fans will be able to plan their Women’s Rugby World Cup England 2025 experience.

“With over 60,000 tickets already sold, the demand and enthusiasm across the country is clear. We look forward to announcing the match schedule and expect high demand across the tournament and all around the country.”

Fans will be able to apply for tickets for all matches between November 5-19, while ballots will be used for any price categories which are oversubscribed.

Editor of The One Show, Joanne Vaughan Jones, said: “We’re excited that The Women’s Rugby World Cup will be coming to England, it’s a big moment for women’s sport across the whole of the UK and we’re delighted to be teaming up with BBC Sport to bring One Show viewers right to the heart of these very special announcements.”
