Non-League preview: Sutton United begin double header against Hemel Hempstead and FA Trophy kicks off

Paul Doswell’s Sutton United will look to continue their strong home form this Saturday – in the first of two games in eight games against Hemel Hempstead Town.

United have won their last three games at Gander Green Lane, including a 2-0 win over Bishop’s Stortford in the FA Cup second qualifying round last weekend, which set up next Saturday’s trip to Hemel in the next round.

Tomorrow though the tackle them at home in the Vanarama National South League, knowing their visitors are unbeaten away from home in all competitions this campaign.

Their good form on the road means they are seventh in the table, two points ahead of 11th-placed Sutton.

Tooting & Mitcham United begin their FA Trophy campaign in the preliminary round at home to Walton & Hersham.

Walton are two points ahead of The Terrors in Ryman League Division One South, with the latter aiming to bounce back from two successive defeats, which saw them knocked out of the FA Cup by Brackley Town.

Elsewhere in the Trophy, Corinthian Casuals face Three Bridges at home, Carshalton Athletic host Leighton Town and, on Sunday, Walton Casuals welcome Sittingbourne.

In the Ryman Premier League, ninth-placed Kingstonian travel to Mill Field tonight to face second-placed Grays Athletic.

Kingstonian are unbeaten in their last five and face a Grays side who lost 3-0 on Wednesday against Leatherhead.

Met Police manager Jim Cooper had little to lift his injury-induced gloom after losing 3-1 against Dulwich Hamlet in midweek.

The Blues travel to Harrow Borough to face Hendon on Saturday having only won three times in the league this season.
