AFC Wimbledon have pulled off the last-gasp signing of Crawley Town’s Gary Alexander on loan until the end of the season.
The veteran striker has just fewer than 150 Football League goals in his career to date and helped guide Crawley to promotion from League Two last season.
The Lambeth-born forward has enjoyed spells at West Ham, Hull City, Leyton Orient and Millwall including two goals in the 2008/09 League One Play-off final for the Lions.
Manager Neal Ardley insisted that Alexander can still pose a threat despite not finding the net consistently at Crawley.
“I played with Gary at Millwall and I know what a good player he is,” he told the club website.
“He has had a bit of a lean spell at Crawley, but that has not detracted from his overall play. With his goals record and the character I know he is, everything added up to make it the right decision to bring him to Wimbledon.”

Before moving to Crawley, Alexander scored 21 goals in 62 games for Brentford while he was less successful at the Reds scoring just six goals from 27 games.
AFC Wimbledon striker Byron Harrison secured a move away from Kingsmeadow minutes before the deadline, joining fellow League Two side Cheltenham Town.
The 25-year-old, who netted ten times in 40 appearances for The Dons, moves to Whaddon Road on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
