French fashion house Dior have collaborated with Harrods to create the ‘The Fabulous World of Dior’, an exhibition that will illuminate the halls of the famous department.
The takeover has been described by Dior as “a thousand fascinating surprises and animated decors, enhanced by gourmet treats”.
Inspired by the magic of Christmas, this new chapter in the Harrods and Dior partnership will run from 10 November to 3 January.
Speaking to Vogue, Dior chairman and CEO Pietro Beccari, said: “Harrods is perhaps the most iconic and legendary retail location, not only in the UK, but globally, and our presence there means an incomparable level of visibility with an international impact.”
Le Café Dior
A tribute to Monsieur Dior’s love of gastronomy, the café is a new venue dedicated to delighting the taste buds.
In a fairytale setting, such as the house in Hansel and Gretel, there is the chance to discover the great classics of French cuisine and culinary specialties but with British influences.
A collection of gingerbread biscuits will be available for Café Dior which reinterpret the fashion house’s iconic symbols.
Visitors can enjoy biscuits shaped like the Dior Book Tote, the J’adore perfume, the Oblique suit, the signature CD Diamond motif and even the 30 Montaigne plaque.
The Fabulous World of Dior: a unique exhibition
Revisiting the tradition of gingerbread houses, the ‘kingdom of dreams’ is an experience that brings together the different customs that brighten the end of year festivities.
In the heart of the British department store, a new exhibition is unveiled with a focus on the architecture of Dior’s locations, from Granville to La Colle Noire and 30 Montaigne.
Window displays: a celebration of dreams and Dior savoir-faire
Celebrating the enthralling moments that brighten winter and reflecting the passionate creativity of Dior the 44 traditional Christmas windows of Harrods have been re-imagined.
In the first time in the history of the department store, the iconic displays have been converted into a small ‘theatre of wonder’ with scenery made of gingerbread.
The Dior Prestige ritual, lipsticks and fragrances also appear in the exhibits that otherwise depict a forest of pine trees made of cookies and a flurry of candy balloons.
Precious settings: two exclusive multi-experience pop-ups
There are two novel pop-up boutiques which draw their décor from the most beautiful Christmas fairytales.
The first pop-up is designed as an authentic gingerbread house representing Monsieur Dior’s Atelier, it summons visitors to enter the secret wings of 30 Montaigne and discover the house and it’s creations.
A second pop-up, a gift shop, brings the first ever collection of Maria Grazia Chiuri for Dior which include a series of t-shirts feature prints that assert the Creative Director’s socially aware vision.
