Hampton Court Palace is getting into the Christmas spirit by opening an ice-skating rink on the front lawn.

Ice at the Palace, in association with Regatta (outdoor clothing and footwear specialists), are also providing children aged 5 – 16 years old with ice skating lessons.
The ice-rink’s Launch Event, on the 25th November, got the festivities off to a great start.
Attending the event Jane Morris said: “It feels like the festive season is really up and running now – I can’t wait to get out onto the ice!”
A brass band played Christmas songs and free mulled wine was flowing throughout the evening.
Paul Tomkins, a 32-year-old builder from Hemel Hempstead, said: “Free mince pies, mulled wine and sausage rolls – I couldn’t be happier.”
But for those a little unsure on the ice, guides are available to escort groups on the rink.
Rajit Singh, who was at the launch, said: “I’ve never skated before but I’m going to give it my best shot. I might need a couple of confidence drinks first though.”
Those who want to partake in the festivities, but don’t want to skate, can relax and enjoy a mulled wine or two in the Ice Bar and Café.
Roger Tennant, a 78-year-old pensioner from Richmond, said: “I might be a little old for ice skating, but the brass band is excellent and the Palace looks fantastic lit up tonight.”
Those enjoying the beautiful view are treated to the West Front of the Palace that was a favourite of Tudor monarch Henry VIII.
The ice-rink is open everyday, except Christmas day, from 10am until 10pm.
The ticket prices for an adult are £12.50, for children under 16 £8.50, for concessions £9.50, or a family ticket at £34 at peak times.
