An alternative Olympic torch relay made up of Jews, Uyghurs, Tibetans and Hong Kongers took place between Trafalgar Square and Parliament Square on Sunday to protest against the Chinese government.
The relay tried to build momentum for a diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022, which they dubbed The Genocide Games, and to spread awareness over China’s alleged human rights abuses.
In the shadow of Parliament and the statue of Millicent Fawcett, the group attempted to reclaim the shared humanity and Olympic spirit of the games.
