A running event is being organised in Battersea to raise awareness and funds for men’s health.

MoRunning, which supports Movember UK, was launched in 2009 and will be held in 11 locations across the UK and Ireland this year, including Battersea on November 16.

“The run supports Movember to fight men’s diseases such as prostate and testicular cancer. We give them money to fund research against men’s illness,” said Dave Krangel, MoRunning race director.

Last year, the event raised £200,000 pounds and gathered around 7,000 Mo runners. The organisers have doubled the entries due to the popularity of the previous event which sold out in record time.

“We are looking to increase the number to reach 12,000 to 14,000 participants, all locations included. Hopefully, this year we will be able to raise something between £300,000 and £400,000 pounds,’ claimed Mr Krangel.

Mr Krangel hopes the event will attract both men and women of all ages. All runners are encouraged to wear a moustache and fancy dress, and prizes for the best dressed MoRunner will be handed out. At the finish line, MoRunners will receive a medal, headband, full race chip timing plus Movember goodies.

MoRunning is organised by The Fix UK Ltd, a multi sports events company created ten years ago. The company will be running the fifth edition of MoRunning this year.

Organisers of the charity event do a lot of work through health and illness websites and magazines such as Men’s Fitness or Running Diary. They also are actively engaged in social media like Twitter to attract more runners.

If you want to participate to the MoRunning event, you can enter online at www.mo-running.com. Entries cost £16 for 5km, £22 for 10km and £25 for 10 miles events. Between £1.60 and £2.00 of the entry fee goes to Movember.
