A G4S driver who stole £1 million from the van he was driving in Clapham was jailed on Friday.
Joel March, 36, of Rectory Grove, SW4 was sentenced to four years and four months’ in prison at Inner London Crown Court, after previously pleading guilty to theft and concealing criminal property at Camberwell Magistrates Court in April.
Police were called at around 7pm on Tuesday April 23 following reports of theft of deposit boxes from a cash-in-transit vehicle in Larkhill Rise, but found no signs of forced entry, which triggered a Met Flying Squad investigation.
March was arrested the following day and a total of £28,600 recovered from the flat he was arrested in.
DI Jason Barber, who is leading the investigation, said: “March abused his position of trust through greed. His sentence today does not end our investigation, my officers continue to work hard to locate the stolen cash in order to repay every penny back to G4S. March will not benefit from this offence.
“I would like to directly appeal to anyone who is aware of the whereabouts of this cash to come forward. I want to be absolutely clear that anyone who benefits from the stolen cash will be fully investigated and may risk prosecution.”
