A man who assaulted an off duty PCSO in Wandsworth has been jailed for six months.

James Wall, 18, barged into an off duty PCSO who was waiting for a bus in Garratt Lane on April 26 last year.

He then threw a can towards the bus stop, hitting a pedestrian. The victim challenged Wall, who then elbowed him in the face, causing a suspected broken nose.

Wall was picked out of an identification parade and subsequently charged with actual bodily harm last December. He was sentenced at Kingston Crown Court on Feburary 21, pleading guilty to actual bodily harm.

Chief Superintendent Sultan Taylor, Safer Transport Command, said: “This was a completely unprovoked assault on one of our officers who was on his way home from work and this sentence demonstrates how serious assaults on our staff are taken by the Courts and ourselves.”
