Performer Darius Campbell serenaded shoppers at Wimbledon’s Centre Court shopping centre last week

Singer Darius Campbell entertained crowds in Wimbledon to promote his new show ‘The History of the Big Bands’ last Thursday.
The performer, best known for his music and West End shows such as ‘ Chicago ‘, was performing in Wimbledon ‘s Centre Court shopping centre at lunchtime.
He performed songs from the show including Sinatra’s ‘Fly me to the moon’ and ‘The way you look tonight’ to eager shoppers and later posed for photos and signings.
The show ‘The History of the Big Band’ was performed at New Wimbledon Theatre on Saturday for one night only.
It takes the audience on a musical journey through the Big Band and Swing eras.
He said: “I thought it would be good to take people on a musical journey as seen through the eyes of the big band leaders and to make it into an audio-visual spectacle.
“I wanted it to appeal to everyone from my grandfather to my 15-year-old brother.”
Devoted fan Julia Van Herck from Fulham said: “It’s fantastic – I’ve been a big fan of his for 10 years now and heard about the event from Facebook.”
Becky Bray, manager of Hawkins Bazaar in Centre Court , said: “I work here and it’s really good to see events being put on in the shopping centre, we’re always trying to think of things like this.”
Darius was recently in the news after almost being paralysed in a car crash in Marbella .
The crash left him with a broken neck and several cracked vertebrae and it is said he was 3mm from death.
Despite this he has made a good recovery and is enjoying performing in the show.
