South West London residents can enjoy outdoor film screenings throughout the summer as Pop Up Screens returns to parks across the area.
Classic films from Anchorman and Zoolander to Mean Girls and Fight Club will play across the 30 dates, with screenings in Fulham, Shepherd’s Bush and Morden.
Pop Up Screens founder David Leydon said that the success of the event last summer made coming back this year even more exciting.
“There’s a beautiful innocence to outdoor cinema,” he said.
“When you’re little you go to the cinema excited because it’s a birthday party or a first date – it’s an experience you’re sharing and loving. You get a bit older and cinema looses that buzz, it’s still wonderful, but the magic has gone, and that’s the thing about Pop Up Screens.
Grownups of all ages come for their birthday parties, or for a first date – last year someone even came for their wedding reception. Outdoor cinema hasn’t lost that excitement and you can genuinely feel it as you settle down to a watch a film you love, with 300 other people who love it too.”
As well as the films, each screening will also have a fully stocked bar, some of the capital’s best street food and popcorn.
Screenings start around 8:30pm, depening on when the sun goes down, and tickets can be purchased in advance at www.popupscreens.co.uk. Tickets cost £8 for one film, or a weekender pass to see all three films costs £20.
