The Pineapple Dance Studios’ star Louie Spence will switch on this year’s Christmas lights at the Wimbledon Winter Wonderland on November 25th.
The event, beginning at 5pm at the Piazza, will also include the traditional parade, dancing, market stalls and fireworks from Centre Court Shopping Centre’s roof.
Louie, who is playing Roger the Cabin Boy in New Wimbledon Theatre’s pantomime, Peter Pan, will be available for a celebrity signing after the parade.
Local schools and performing arts groups will take part in the parade and perform on the live stage in the Piazza, including children’s group Love2Dance, Cherry Music Choir and Chakula Soul.
“It’s great for the kids to be walking in the parade,” said event organiser Tracy Francis. “They get very excitable.”
The parade will include the floats, which haven’t been seen for a few years and there will be various market stalls selling gifts, jewellery and food in the Piazza.
“The atmosphere in town is like no other day in the year, it’s a really lovely event,” said Ms Francis.
The event offers a chance for local groups to come together and raise awareness for themselves and local businesses, as well as being a family event for all ages.
Ms Francis thanked the local businesses sponsoring the event, including AFC Wimbledon, Elys and Guardian Newspapers.
“Without their support we couldn’t put on an event of this size,” she said.
