Families celebrated the Olympic spirit in beaming sunshine in Merton yesterday, as the council hosted several picnics to celebrate the Olympic Torch passing by.
SW Londoner met parents and children in South Park Gardens, Trinity Road, where Morris Dancers, a live band and a bouncy castle provided entertainment.
Roads along the torch route were packed with fans blowing horns and waving flags as the iconic flame passed through their hometown.
Celebrities including Wimbledon finalist Andy Murray joined local heroes from all over the country to carry the torch around Merton.
The flame will finish its journey the country by visiting each London borough before lighting the Olympic Cauldron at the opening ceremony on Friday.
