Anxious teenagers across south west London have been finding out today how they did in their GCSEs.

Pupils in Lambeth recorded an outstanding GCSE performance with nearly six out of ten candidates achieving at least 5 A* – C passes.
Provisional results released today showed that the proportion of students earning five or more A* – C grades, including English and Maths, rose to 58%, last year this figure was 57% compared to the national of 53%.
La Retraite Roman Catholic Girls’ School achieved the highest 5+ A*-C grades (including English and Maths) for first time entries, with 83%.
Cllr Paul McGlone, Lambeth Council’s deputy leader, said: “I’d like to congratulate to all our pupils on their achievements today.
“These results are the culmination of years of hard work and commitment from pupils, their families and schools. But they are also a critical step on each young person’s journey towards their future careers, whether they plan to go to college or start work now.
“I wish all our pupils every success – and I want them to know that we’ll do everything we can to help them fulfil their potential.”

Putney High School has also bagged an impressive set of GCSE results this year with 87% of entrants achieving A* or A grades.
Headmistress Suzie Longstaff said: “I am delighted for our students.
“These strong results reflect the sheer depth of ability and breadth of interest across the full range of subjects from Maths and Sciences to Languages, Humanities and the creative subjects.”

Wimbledon High School is enjoying its best ever GCSE results with a record-breaking 72% A* grades for students.

Students at Latymer Upper were celebrating as 92% of grades were at A*/A, and more than 68% were at A*, with 97% of maths papers graded A*/A.
Head David Goodhew said: “My warmest congratulations to Year 11 on their spectacular GCSE results – over 1000 A* grades!
“I am so pleased for the pupils, who have worked hard to do so well, and their teachers, who have inspired and cared for them.
“This academic success is a fitting companion to their accomplishments throughout the year in sport, music, drama and art.
“I am excited to see what they will go on to achieve in the Sixth Form, and beyond!”
