Harlequins fans will have a new beverage with which to toast victory or drown their sorrows after Saturday’s match against Exeter Chiefs.
The rugby club’s official beer supplier Greene King has produced brand new lager Jesters through one of its subsidiaries, Belhaven.
The name was voted for by supporters of the club and is an echo of the colourful Harlequins logo, while the beer itself has met with early approval from former Quin Olly Kohn.
“I tried a pint of Jesters and it was excellent,” he said. “It has a great fresh taste which makes it perfect for a day out at the rugby!”
Belhaven is based in Dunbar, Scotland has been brewing beer since 1719 and, among other accolades, its Belhaven Best is the official beer of the Scottish Golf Union.
The lager is produced from 100% Scottish barley lager malt with no adjuncts or additives, and uses Challenger hops for bittering and English hop Northdown for aroma.
And the finished article, an appetising 4% ABV lager, is a cool crisp beer, blonde in colour with a pleasant biscuit aroma and a refreshing clean finish.
It will be served at all bars inside the Twickenham Stoop at all future games, starting with this weekend’s crucial clash with the Chiefs.
