Sammy Moore scored in the last minute of injury time and extra time to earn the Dons a place in the FA Cup second round

AFC Wimbledon dramatically booked a place in the second round of the FA Cup in a nail-biting clash with Ebbsfleet United last night.
With a minute of injury time to go and down 2-1, the Dons were going out of the competition, but Sammy Moore equalised and scored the winner with the last kick of extra-time as penalties beckoned.
Hopes of an historic clash with MK Dons, the team AFC Wimbledon split from when Wimbledon FC rebranded and moved to Milton Keynes, were dashed when Stevenage overcame them on penalties.
But Terry Brown, the Crazy Gang’s manager, was glad the match-up was avoided.
He said: “I’m delighted to be playing Stevenage not the other team. Both of us have got an opportunity to be playing in the third round and that’s what this club wants to achieve.”
Any disappointment fans might have over missing out on MK Dons would vanish if they could secure a glamorous tie in the third round, when Premiership and Championship teams enter the fray.
Since forming and holding trials on Wimbledon Common in 2002, the team have enjoyed four promotions and sit atop the Blue Square Bet Premier.
As they sit in pole position to enter the football league for the first time in their current guise, AFC Wimbledon’s meteoric rise shows little sign of ending.
