The New Wimbledon Theatre will once again open its doors to classic 1950s rock ‘n’ roll next week.

After the success of the recent Rock ‘N’ Roll Heaven, showcasing music from legends Elvis Pressley, Roy Orbison and Del Shannon, the theme continues with Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story, a musical about the life of the 50s icon.

First showcased on the West End in 1989, Buddy is a worldwide hit, and has enjoyed runs on New York’s Broadway. A West End revival took place in 2007.

Since his death in 1959, aged just 22, in a plane crash that claimed the lives of fellow rockers Richie Valens and The Big Bopper, Buddy Holly’s legend has endured.

Songs ‘Not Fade Away’, ‘Peggy Sue’ and ‘That’ll be the day’ remain classics of the rock genre.

Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story will run from 19th-24th September at the New Wimbledon Theatre. For ticket details, contact the box office on 020 8540 0362.
