A Teddington grandma has braved a brutal haircut to raise much-needed funds for vulnerable children and families in Richmond today.
Sandra Cummins, who volunteers at Home-Start Richmond, cut off her blonde locks for the charity, which supports families.
Friends and family have dug deep for Sandra as she faced the clippers, so far generous backers have clubbed together £1,400.
A BIT APPREHENSIVE: Sandra steels herself for the chop
Sandra said: “I was a bit apprehensive before it started but now I am glad that I have done it. My head feels quite nice – nice and tingly!
“I hope more people sponsor me now they know I have done it.
“Home-Start is such a good cause. I expect lots of people are going to ask me ‘what have you done to your hair?!’ so it’s good to raise awareness that way.”

As a volunteer for Home-Start Sandra visits young children and families who are experiencing difficulties such as mental health issues, disability and family breakdown.
Sandra is contributing towards Home-Start Richmond’s drive to raise £20,000 this year to continue the work of their 100 home-visiting volunteers who helped more than 500 children last year.
East Sheen’s courageous coiffeur, Sarah Jackson from Headmasters, wielded the clippers to crop Sandra’s bob into the extreme buzz-cut.
