Anyone feeling depressed about the end of summer can reminisce about great british holidays thanks to an exhibition at Kingston Museum.

Time is running out to visit Morning Campers! The British Holiday Camp exhibition, which has run throughout the summer.

The exhibition, which comes to an end on September 14,  offers visitors an insight into the history of beloved holiday camp Butlins from 1936 to the present day.

Showcasing a variety of colourful memorabilia and boasting numerous activities ranging from bingo to mini golf to keep both children and adults entertained, the exhibition has something fun for all the family.

It has been a huge triumph so far, with events such as ‘Sun’s up it’s Thursday bringing in on average 125 children every Thursday over the summer.

A reminiscent session which involved author Nancy Vlasto giving a talk about her family’s experience at Butlins, read from her autobiography ‘What’s next?’, has also been a highlight.

Amy Graham, Collections and Access officer at the Museum, said the exhibition supplies ‘nice memories of holidays gone by’.

“It has been really successful at bringing forward stories of the older generation,” she said.
