Thousands of people are without water or with low pressure this afternoon across south west London after a burst water main.
Thames Water said a large burst pipe at the water works in Hampton was affecting supply to TW, KT and W postcodes.
Waitrose Twickenham had sold out of bottled water (pictured above) at around 1.30pm this afternoon as people waited for updates on when the water supplies may be reinstated.
A statement from Thames Water said: “We’re sorry to anyone whose water supply has been affected by a burst on a large pipe at our water works in Hampton.
“A team of engineers are there investigating and we have more experts planning how to get water back on for our customers as soon as we possibly can.
“If we’re unable to do that within the next few hours we’ll make bottled water available across the affected areas and we encourage customers to keep an eye our social media feeds and website for the latest updates.”
All planned clinics and sessions at Teddington Memorial Hospital and Teddington Health & Social Care Centre were cancelled, and the urgent treatment centre was also closed at around 1pm.
