A woman was hit by a fallen advertising billboard which crashed to the ground in Tooting early this morning
Firefighters were called to the scene on Mellison Road just after 7.30am today and, after realising the victim wasn’t trapped by the 20ft sign, made the scene safe while London Ambulance Service crews took the woman to hospital.

Station Manager Kevin McKenzie, who was at the scene said: “This could have been a much more serious incident. It is extremely lucky that there weren’t more people underneath it, cars parked or major utility networks.”
