A month-long live music series will return to Battersea Arts Centre in May, showcasing unique home-grown talent and beats from around the world.
Borderless, a collaboration between Battersea Arts Centre and GOAT Music, will be hosted at the centre’s Council Chamber, following it’s success in 2016.
Lewisham’s Jodie Abacus will kick off the month-long series of performances on Thursday 4 May, joining acts including Kate Simko and London Electronic Orchestra, and award-winning alto saxophonist Soweto Kinch.
David Jubb, Battersea Arts Centre’s artistic director said: “The first Borderless season in 2016 added to a history of great music nights in Battersea’s former Town Hall which have included the Jam and Fleetwood Mac in previous decades.
“I am absolutely delighted that Borderless is back in 2017 with the promise of some new legendary nights in Battersea Arts Centre’s historic and atmospheric Council Chamber.”
The series of five performances announced so far, a broad cross-section of afrobeat, jazz and electronica, also features British grime artist Trim, formerly a member of the Roll Deep collective.
Battersea Arts Centre sees over 160,000 people pass through its doors each year for a range of events, including weddings and beer festivals, with the aim of inspiring thousands of young people in the community to get creative.
Collaborators GOAT Music is an events and performance agency focused on live music bookings, creative programming and artistic development.
The agency’s founder and CEO David Gaydon had previously worked as head of music at the renowned Roundhouse, with founding partner Lou Birkett bringing experience from pervious roles at the O2 Arena and the Roundhouse.
Mr Gaydon said: “Following the success of the 14 shows we produced last summer, it is an absolute pleasure to be working with Battersea Arts Centre on a second series of Borderless.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to programme another run of incredible artists from right across the music spectrum further cementing the beautiful Council Chamber’s reputation as wondering venue to experience live music.”
Ranging from £12.50 to £19, tickets are available to the general public via the Battersea Arts Centre website.
