St. Paul’s Cathedral has announced a special public service of Prayer and Reflection for Queen Elizabeth II today at 6pm.

There are 2000 spaces available for the public. Those attending will require a wristband from the City Information Centre in Carter Lane Gardens. Spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

The service will be broadcast live on BBC1.

Prime Minister Liz Truss and Mayor of London Sadiq Khan are expected to attend.

King Charles III is also expected to address the nation with a pre-recorded speech at about 6pm.

Dean-Designate of St Paul’s, the Very Reverend Andrew Tremlett said: “We remember with gratitude the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Over many centuries St Paul’s Cathedral has been a place to remember and mourn the lives of many of those who have died. As we join her family and the nation in mourning, we commend her life and work to God.”

St. Paul’s Cathedral will be closed for other public sightseeing today and will re-open on September 10.
