From Cor-bin to Mayhem: First editions make unpleasant reading for May after exit polls

Theresa May will want to avoid the first editions of our national newspapers as they do not make pleasant reading for the Conservative.

There is a stark contrast from yesterday’s papers with The Daily Mail splashing with ‘Britain on a knife edge’ – a change of tone from ‘Let’s reignite British spirit’ on Wednesday.

Both The Sun and the Metro have gone for ‘Mayhem’ while The Guardian are the only national to lead with a picture of Jeremy Corbyn so far.

With exit polls pointing to a possible hung parliament – many of the tabloids strike a less triumphant tone for the Conservative party than yesterday, with many now anticipating embarrassment for May.

The Times‘ front page reads ‘May’s Big Gamble Fails’ – indicating to the possibility that her gamble on a snap election has spectacularly backfired and The Mirror channels this with ‘Hanging by a thread’.
