Putney MP Justine Greening was on hand on Saturday, to officially open Rosslyn Park FC’s new artificial 4G pitch – just in time for the season-opening clash with Henley Hawks.
The Secretary of State for International Development demonstrated her goal-kicking skills before cutting the ribbon to mark the beginning of a new all-weather era at Rosslyn Park.

The pitch itself has been under construction since May and had been road-tested in three pre-season friendlies, but was officially opened this weekend.
She lauded Rosslyn Park as a ‘fantastic resource’.
She said: “Rosslyn Park has a great history – kids are always massively involved and they are so supportive.”
Ms Greening successfully bisected the posts with a celebratory place kick that Jonny Wilkinson would have been proud of there were murmurs it wasn’t her first time.
She later revealed she had trained with the Rosslyn Park Ladies in 2005.
The keen squash player and general ‘sporting enthusiast’, who was once coached by Rebecca Adlington’s former coach Bill Furniss, later revealed she had trained with the Rosslyn Park Ladies in 2005.
She is also one of the few to possess a clod of turf from the original pitch.
