WATCH: Stand Up to Racism protest unfolds as Tommy Robinson supporters march nearby

On Saturday 26 October, around 20,000 people gathered in central London for a Stand Up to Racism rally.

Protestors filled Piccadilly Circus, waving banners and chanting against what they described as hate and division.

Groups and charities, such as Care4Calais, were among those highlighting the struggles of refugees, who they argued are often scapegoated by far-right rhetoric.

Charlotte Khan, Project Manager at Care4Calais said: “We’re here to stand in solidarity with the communities we work with.

“What the far right is doing is not ok, we’re not going to accept that.

“We’re here to say hell no.”

Her message was echoed by former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, 75, who addressed the crowd and called for communities to unite together.

Nearby in Westminster, a counter-protest by Tommy Robinson supporters unfolded.

Robinson, 42, known for his anti-Islam views, was unable to attend after being remanded into custody, and addressed the rally through a screen.

Both events drew significant crowds and highlighted contrasting perspectives on immigration, identity, and community values.
