Fulham Palace Garden trees lit up in rainbow colours

Festive light show taking over Fulham Palace Gardens

Fulham Palace Gardens is to be transformed into a winter wonderland by the London Illuminated Light Trail for the festive season.

The trail will take over the 13 acres of Fulham Palace’s botanical gardens, rare trees and walled garden with thousands of lights between November 28 and December 22.

The light trail will also feature street food outlets, mulled wine, cider, hot chocolate, and fire pits for roasting marshmallows.

Annabel Edmundson, the event organiser, said: “The London Illuminated Light Trail is a beautiful trail that allows you to immerse yourself into a magical world of light, sound and colour.”

The Fulham Palace House and Gardens is a historic site that has been the residence of the Bishops of London since 704, with the gardens being maintained by the Fulham Palace Trust.

Edmundson said: “Fulham Palace is a grade one listed building with some of the oldest gardens in London, which look amazing when illuminated!”

There will also be a small festive village at the end of the trail for boutique Christmas shopping.

On top of the light trail, there will be Father Christmas in his Grotto for every day of the event, with the £4 paid to see him being donated to charities in Fulham and Hammersmith, with a small gift also included.

The money has provided over 800 Christmas presents for children in children’s homes in Suffolk and for families that are unable to afford Christmas presents.

There will be entertainment provided along the light trail, including live music and performances by the magician Markele, as seen on Britain’s Got Talent.

The trail will also include circus performers, such as fire breathers and stick walkers.

Edmundson explained: “The atmosphere is something out of this world, with people being mesmerised by the amazing structures, lights and sounds at every corner.”

Torches and sensible shoes are recommended to navigate the darker areas of the trail, with a shorter wheelchair accessible route also being provided.

Edmundson said: “The light trail is an event for everyone!”
