A revolutionary cinematic experience is promised, as UK-leading cinema operator Cineworld announces plans to bring 4DX cinema to Wandsworth in December.
Designed to stimulate all five senses, high-tech motion seats and special effects such as wind, fog, lightning, bubbles, water, and scents aim to create a realistic and immersive experience for the audience.
The 4DX auditorium, currently under construction, will house 148 of these seats and a curved screen more than 14m high – larger than a double decker bus.
Imam Fathi, Cineworld Wandsworth general manager, said: “There’s nothing like it in the capital and it’s totally exclusive to Cineworld.
“We cannot wait to see customers’ reactions when they try it out this December.”
Cineworld says the plans will launch on December 9, in time for the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story on December 15.
The cinema will also introduce a brand new wall-to-wall, ceiling-high Superscreen and auditorium, designed to seat 364 people.
“We are always looking at the latest innovations in technology, and with our offering now including 4DX as well as Superscreen, we are giving customers more choice to watch a movie how they want,” said Mr Fathi.
4DX was first launched in 2009, in South Korea.
In 2015, Cineworld launched the UK’s first 4DX cinema, in Milton Keynes.
