No Time to Drive: Sports car from James Bond chase stars at prestigious show packed with celebs’ vehicles

Petrolheads can feel like a James Bond villain for a day as they get the rare chance to sit in the very sports car that chased Daniel Craig as he played 007.

The Jaguar C-X75 starred in the 2015 movie Spectre and was driven by wrestler-turned-actor Dave Bautista in a thrilling pursuit through the streets of Rome and the Vatican City.

The exhilarating vehicle will be showcased at this week’s London Concours garden party [June 4-6] where motor-mad guests can admire 80 of ‘the world’s most precious cars’.

Despite being designed to withstand the punishing chase scenes, only four of the five Jaguar C-X75 stunt cars survived filming Spectre and this one has been re-engineered by CALLUM Designs to make it UK road legal.

Bond fans can even see a replica of the iconic Lotus Turbo Esprit driven by 007 during the 1981 film For Your Eyes Only.

The prestigious event will also host a flurry of classic cars previously owned by celebrities, with a focus on the Swinging Sixties.

Visitors can check out the glamorous 1960 Mercedes 190 SL that was owned by Shirley Bassey while she recorded the iconic I Am What I Am album.

The car that jump-started music legend Eric Clapton’s Ferrari obsession, the Ferrari 365 GTC, will also grace the Honourable Artillery Company’s lawn in Central London.

It’s joined by romance novelist and actress Jackie Collins’ former love, the Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback.

There’s even an Aston Martin DB6 just like ones previously owned by Paul McCartney and owned by King Charles since Queen Elizabeth II gifted it to him for his 21st birthday.

The owner of an Alfa Romeo SZ ES30 on show even claims ‘it has survived being ragged by Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear’.

London Concours promises a three-day celebration ‘sitting at the intersection between style, craftsmanship, luxury and motoring’.

Andrew Evans, managing director of London Concours, said: “At the London Concours we don’t place these cars behind ropes or picket fences, they’re placed right out on the lawns for people to get up close with.

“They are displayed proudly by their generous owners, many of whom stand by their cars gladly ushering people into the driver’s seat or talking about their experiences.

“It’s a rare opportunity to experience stars of the screen, rare supercars you’d never see on the street or poster cars from your youth that seem to have all but disappeared.

“The Jaguar C-X75 is one of those cars that everyone loves as a piece of incredible design, and its reputation was cemented by its memorable appearance in Spectre.

“Not many people will have the chance to see a real life Bond car in the flesh, but that’s exactly the opportunity that attendees to the London Concours will have.

“And the best thing is, it’s just one car of more than 100 that will be on display across the three days of our event from 4th-6th June.”

London Concours will also host retail chalets with luxury brands and artisan goods along with food and drink to enjoy while taking a break from viewing their giant car collection.

Cars are not placed behind fences or ropes so guests can get close to their favourite vehicles and chat to their owners, while getting in the driver’s seats is at each owners’ disrection.
