Reform UK’s London mayoral candidate, Howard Cox, believed he would see the return of his party’s £10,000 deposit fee.
His party achieved 3.2% of the vote share in the London mayoral elections, coming in fifth.
Candidates must achieve 5% of the vote share to receive a return on their deposit.
When asked how he felt about the loss, he said: “I’m not sure if that’s true, it’s two and a half percent to return the deposit so I don’t think it’s a problem in that respect.
“You’re looking at £10,000, not the £500 necessary for MPs.”
He said that the results were disappointing and claimed that Londoners voted strategically.
He added: “Reform was offering policies that everyone loved.”
