Fulham lost 2-1 at home to Cardiff City.
Fulham manager Martin Jol has asked for calm after fans called for his sacking following Saturday’s last-minute defeat against newly promoted Cardiff City.
Fulham currently stand in the relegation zone after only one win in six matches this season, with rumours circulating that Jol’s managerial position is in serious doubt.
The team lost 2-1 to a last-minute Jordan Mutch winner at Craven Cottage, with fans venting their anger at the final whistle.
Jeers of ‘Jol Out!’ were shouted by the home crowd as Martin Jol looked a depressed figure at the end of the match.
Speaking to the press after the defeat, Jol said he was not surprised of the fans’ reaction but called for calm.
“If you look at other teams in the bottom three or five, even if it is early in the season, you get pressure and I take the responsibility,” he said.
“Our fans want us to be in the top ten. But if you look at our games, we have always been close.
“I will always be calm. I hate it when people are getting worried and nervous especially when they ask a manager to quit. That is awful. You never know what will happen with a new manager.”
Fulham will look to gain precious three points as take on Mark Hughes’s Stoke City at Craven Cottage this Saturday.
