You Me Korean Restaurant was orginally given the lowest score of one.
The owner of a Korean restaurant in New Malden could not hide her delight as their business received a massive rise in food hygiene ratings from one to five.
You Me Korean Restaurant, in Burlington Road, New Malden, received a positive response in their recent hygiene inspection in October which boosted their previous low ratings to top marks.
The restaurant, open since 1988, achieved the rare feat of getting their ratings boosted from one to five directly.
Ok Kyung, who runs the restaurant with her husband, said: “We are delighted with the result. The last rating we got was probably unfair on us as we had the inspection when we had building works going on.
“But we are definitely happy to get the new rating (of five). We aim to provide high quality service and food for our customers.”
Specialising in Korean-Chinese cuisine, You Me was named after the couple’s daughter and is widely popular within the Korean community in the UK.
Joon Han, waiter at You Me, said their customers be impressed with the new ratings.
He said: “We have a poster on our front window saying we are rated five in the hygiene ratings and it has had a positive impact on customers.”
Owner Mrs Kyung said they are currently looking to expand their business by opening a second branch in central London by next year.
