Zac Goldsmith is expected to be confirmed as the Conservative Party’s London mayoral candidate this morning.
Voting for the four candidates closed on Wednesday this week with the Richmond Park MP topping the polls.
Chairman of Back Zac 2016 Nick de Bois told SW Londoner last night that he was feeling ‘cautiously confident’ for Mr Goldsmith to secure the nomination.
Mr Goldsmith has been the favourite to win since he entered the race in June and was addressed, in all but name, by Labour’s candidate Sadiq Khan who implored them to ‘work together to defend the capital’s housing’.
The other candidates are Syed Kamall MEP, Andrew Boff and Stephen Greenhalgh.
