A coffee business with cafes across the city is bringing Colombian coffee to London.
Hermanos, founded by brothers Victor and Santiago Gamboa, emerged from a desire to showcase the coffee and culture of Colombia – a country which houses vast microclimates ideal for producing diverse coffee flavours and profiles.
Ellen Murphy spoke to the pair at their Walworth branch, to hear more about their journey into the coffee industry, which began where many businesses do – at home.
In 2016, the brothers were roasting coffee beans in a one-kilo, tabletop roaster and selling them online – the original roaster is now displayed in their shop in Barnes.
Their first brick and mortar shop opened two years later.
Today, they have nine locations across London and produce coffee using a six-kilo roaster with beans solely from Colombia.
Victor and Santiago hope to continue to expand their business across the UK and in Europe, in places where the demand for their speciality coffee is strongest.
