In his 100 days since being elected the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump has made Twitter his very own mouthpiece.
Every time he tweets, it makes national headlines – sometimes good ones, sometimes not so good.
Here we take a look at some of his best Twitter moments.
DAY 1
8 Nov 2016
TODAY WE MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 8, 2016
Trump was in confident mood on polling day and rightfully so it turned out. His son Eric meanwhile got into trouble when he illegally shared a picture of his ballot paper on Twitter. He removed it after being mocked by Hillary Clinton fans.
DAY 2
9 Nov 2016
Such a beautiful and important evening! The forgotten man and woman will never be forgotten again. We will all come together as never before
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 9, 2016
This is one of Trump’s most liked tweets, coming not long after he was confirmed as the President-elect.
DAY 4
11 Nov 2016
Love the fact that the small groups of protesters last night have passion for our great country. We will all come together and be proud!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 11, 2016
After Trump’s election victory was confirmed hundreds of thousands of Americans took to the streets over the following weeks to protest the result. In this tweet he refers to them as “small groups” and applauds their passion for the USA.
DAY 9
16 Nov 2016
Very organized process taking place as I decide on Cabinet and many other positions. I am the only one who knows who the finalists are!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 16, 2016
Speculation on who would make Trump’s top team ran through the media. In this tweet Trump taunts the press and teases his supporters by saying: “I am the only one who knows who the finalists are!.”
Using the word “finalists” to describe his potential cabinet members inferred he was going to treat governing the USA with the same tact as his reality TV career fronting the American version of the Apprentice.
DAY 12
19 Nov 2016
The Theater must always be a safe and special place. The cast of Hamilton was very rude last night to a very good man, Mike Pence. Apologize!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 19, 2016
The then US vice-president elect, Mike Pence, was booed by the theatre audience when he attended the musical Hamilton in New York on 19 Nov 2016. He also had actor Brandon Victor Dixon address him from stage, saying: “We are the diverse Americans anxious you will not protect us.”
Trump took to twitter to demand an apology for the cast and accused theatre-goers of having “harassed” Pence, writing “This should not happen!”
DAY 19
26 Nov 2016
Fidel Castro is dead!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 26, 2016
While many leaders across the world made fitting tributes to the passing of Cuba’s iconic leader and revolutionary, Trump in his familiar style kept things simple and said: “Fidel Castro is dead!”
DAY 33
10 Dec 2016
Reports by @CNN that I will be working on The Apprentice during my Presidency, even part time, are ridiculous & untrue – FAKE NEWS!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 10, 2016
This would be the Trump’s first mention of the term “fake news” which he would use frequently in later tweets and press conferences. It is almost a catchphrase for his battle with the media and a way of dismissing news outlets that don’t make reports in his favour.
DAY 48
25 Dec 2016
Merry Christmas and a very, very, very , very Happy New Year to everyone!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 25, 2016
Festive Trump hopes everyone has a great Christmas and a “very, very, very, very” Happy New year, unless you are one of those pesky journalists at NBC or CNN.
DAY 61
Jan 7 2017
Having a good relationship with Russia is a good thing, not a bad thing. Only “stupid” people, or fools, would think that it is bad! We…..
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 7, 2017
Trump’s administration was revealed to have greater ties to Russia than had been seen by any US government since before the Cold War.
With this being a huge shift in US foreign policy for decades, Trump hit out at “stupid” sceptics that doubted the decision, reassuring everyone it would only be “a good thing.”
DAY 63
Jan 9
Meryl Streep, one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood, doesn’t know me but attacked last night at the Golden Globes. She is a…..
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 9, 2017
Trump took to Twitter to hit back at Meryl Streep after she used her speech at the Golden Globes to attack him.
DAY 74 – INAUGURATION DAY
Jan 20
We will follow two simple rules: BUY AMERICAN & HIRE AMERICAN!#InaugurationDay #MAGA🇺🇸
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 20, 2017
A simple yet powerful and very meaningful post on the day he was sworn in as the 45th President of the United States.
