Five luxury experiences to have in London for Christmas

Holiday traditions vary from person to person.

We each have our favourite ways to do things, whether that’s spending time in the family home or exploring the world.

One thing for sure is London is one of the most exciting cities to visit during the festive period.

From the twinkling Christmas lights to the enormous trees and everything else in between, London delivers something for everyone, especially if you’re looking for luxury.

Here are the five most luxurious things to do during the festive period.

See London in a Unique Way

Walking through the streets, catching one of the traditional red buses, or travelling by tube doesn’t have to be the only way you see the capital of London.

For a truly unique view of the city, why not take a private jet charter flight from London with your family and look down on the city like never before?

You can dine among the stars, looking at the busy city below.

Many people love to see loved ones over the festive period who don’t always live close by; this could be the perfect surprise and the best gift you can give this year.

1970s-Inspired Miracle Bar

One of the most popular and magical Christmas events in the entire city is unveiling the kitsch festive pop-up bar at Henrietta Hotel in Covent Garden.

Nestled on the hotel’s mezzanine floor, this bar is a retro living room filled with nostalgia, festive cheer, and more decorations than you could have imagined.

The menu boasts festive-themed cocktails such as the Christmapolitan — a mix of vodka, dry vermouth, elderflower, spiced cranberry sauce, rosemary, lime, and an absinthe mist.

When it comes to food, the people at the Italian Supper Club have got you covered.

But, if nothing on the menu takes your fancy, you can bring your receipt from Miracle to Stereo and enjoy a sleek 20% off burgers plus a complimentary round of wings.

Stay in 5-star Luxury

If you’ve nipped over to see loved ones or friends via jet from London, it can bring you right back to enjoy a 5-star festive season.

A luxury Christmas stay in London is never complete without a stay in one of the city’s many 5-star hotels.

One of our favourites is Number Sixteen, an incredible boutique hotel filled with comforts to make you feel you could be in someone’s home.

For something much more posh, there is the Lanesborough, or one of the more popular choices is the Covent Garden Hotel, admired fondly by people who work in media.

Knightsbridge is home to many 5-star hotels perfect for a luxurious Christmas stay, none better than the Bulgari Hotel, which is ideal for those who want to indulge in a spending spree in places like Harrods and Harvey Nichols.

The Goring is another hotel we love.

This charming boutique stay is within walking distance from Buckingham Palace and St. James Park.

Indulge in Afternoon Tea

Enjoy a luxurious afternoon indulging in a Christmas-themed tea at some of London’s most favoured spots.

A tasty spread of treats has been designed by Ben Boeynaems, head chef at The Beaumont Hotel, taking inspiration from flavours across the pond and places a little closer to home.

Maple-glazed gammon sandwiches, cranberry and buttermilk scones, and mince pies covered in Devonshire clotted cream are the things that should come to mind.

For the main event, the tea itself, but with a difference. Sip a glass of Gusbourne Rose or Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs, or try the non-alcoholic JING jasmine sparkling tea.

In other locations around the city, the Zetter’s seasonal afternoon tea has taken inspiration from Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol.

You can enjoy this menu at the Clerkenwell and Marylebone sites, where you will be taken into the cosy parlour rooms.

Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland

If you’re looking for Christmas magic, the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park is a festive joy of luxury and sparkle.

Each year, around December, the park is transformed into an upscale amusement park filled with rides and German and Viennese-style market stands.

These markets are home to handmade crafts, wooden ornaments, and restaurants where you can taste a Christmas-inspired meal.

Here, you can also fly around the beautifully decorated ice-skating rink and ice sculpture displays.

The festivities begin in November, spreading cheers to the big day.
