Former Great British Bake Off champ Frances Quinn is presiding over the tastiest competition in town – as porridge-loving SW Londoners are called to put the proof in their puddings.
Healthy food and drinks company Rude Health are calling on the finest porridge-connoisseurs in the capital to take part in the 2015 London Porridge Championships.
The annual competition, now in its third year, will pit contestants against each other to determine the creator of the London’s best porridge.
Porridge fanatics of all persuasions are encouraged to enter from the indulgent hedonist who likes to add milk, fruit or honey, to the no-nonsense minimalist who prefers simply to chomp down their porridge with water and a pinch of salt.
Whatever your inclination, don’t be afraid to go against the grain!
Rude Health have will invite 14 aspiring home-cooks, Instagrammers and bloggers to battle it out against renowned cookery writers and restaurants for a chance to take the illustrious crown of Porridge Champ.
To separate the wheat from the chaff, entries will be judged by oat-crazy Frances Quinn, winner of the Great British Bake Off 2013, along with Rude Health’s very own Nick Barnard, Speciality Champion at the 2013 World Porridge Championships.
The eventual champion will join previous cereal winners Adam Stansbury (founder of Cover Fitness) and Signe Johansen (Scandilicious) in the oaty hall of fame.
Members of the public are encouraged to join in the day’s festivities and will be given spoons to taste the entries for themselves and mini-packs of porridge oats to take home with them.
The London Porridge Championships will take place from 10am on Friday October 16, at Whole Foods Market Kensington, 63-97 Barkers Building on Kensington High Street.
The final list of participants for the 2015 championships will be available two week’s prior to the Championships.
